Who we are

Hackett Educational (trading as Hackett Educational Resources) is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. We are a sole trader: Mrs Elif Hackett, 18 Bassett Street, London NW5 4PH.

You can contact us about your information at elif@hacketteducationalresources.com. We have applied to register with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). [Add the registration number once it has been issued.]

What information we collect

• Order information: your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number if you give one, and what you bought.
• Booking information for private tuition: your name and contact details, your address (where lessons take place at home), the child's first name and age or school year, the service and time you book, and any notes you give us about their learning needs.
• Account information if you create a member account or log in: your email address and login details (held by Wix).
• Messages you send us by email, through a form, or by social media.
• Technical information: essential cookies that keep your cart and login working (see our Cookies page).
• We do not collect your payment card details. Payments are taken by PayPal and Wix and we never see or store them.

Why we use it and our legal basis

• To take, deliver and support orders and bookings, and to send download links and order emails. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
• To keep records for tax and accounting. Legal basis: legal obligation.
• To answer your questions and keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in running the business.
• To send you news or offers by email, only if you have chosen to receive them. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Information about a child's learning needs is used only to plan and deliver their tuition. We ask for it with the consent of a parent or carer. [Solicitor to confirm the basis for any special category information.]

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services we need to run the business, who act on our instructions or under their own privacy policies:

• Wix.com, which hosts our shop, checkout, bookings, member accounts and email.
• PayPal, which processes payments.
• Delivery and postal services, for physical orders.
• Our accountant or bookkeeper, and professional advisers, where needed. [Confirm.]
• Public authorities, if the law requires it.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of these services may handle your information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. [Solicitor to confirm against Wix and PayPal terms.]

How long we keep it

• Order and accounting records: [6 years], as tax law requires.
• Tuition records, including notes about a child: [for the duration of tuition and 1 year afterwards, then deleted].
• Emails and enquiries: [2 years] after the last contact.
• Marketing emails: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You have the right to see the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to take a copy to move elsewhere, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email us to use any of these rights. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

Our shop is for adults. We collect information about children only when a parent or carer books tuition, and only what we need to teach them. We never market directly to children.
