Terms and conditions
Draft: not yet reviewed
The terms that apply when you buy resources or book tuition from Hackett Educational. Last updated: 18 October 2026.
About us
These terms apply to orders and bookings made through this website. We are Hackett Educational (trading as Hackett Educational Resources), a sole trader (Mrs Elif Hackett), of 18 Bassett Street, London NW5 4PH, email elif@hacketteducationalresources.com. [VAT number, if registered.]
By placing an order or booking, you agree to these terms. If you are buying as a consumer, nothing here limits your legal rights.
How a contract is made
Our checkout and booking pages are hosted by Wix. When you place an order or booking you are making an offer to buy. The contract is made when we send you an order or booking confirmation by email. We may decline an order, for example if an item is out of stock or a price is clearly wrong, and we will refund any payment.
Prices and payment
- Prices are in pounds sterling. [Prices include VAT where it applies. / We are not VAT registered.]
- Delivery charges, where they apply, are shown at checkout before you pay.
- Payment is taken at checkout by PayPal. [Add other methods if enabled.]
- Tuition: the first step is an initial 30-minute consultation, which costs £20. If you then book lessons with us, the £20 is deducted from the cost of your first lesson (see our Returns and refunds page). Lesson fees are [due at or before each lesson].
Digital downloads
- Download links are sent by email once payment is complete. Check your junk folder, and tell us if you have not received it.
- Downloads are for your own personal or classroom use. You may print copies for your own children or class. You may not resell, share, upload or redistribute them, or claim them as your own.
- Copyright in all our resources remains with us.
Physical resources
Delivery times and charges are set out on our Delivery page. If goods arrive damaged, are lost in delivery or are missing from your order, we will replace them. Risk passes to you when the goods are delivered, and ownership passes when we have received full payment.
Private tuition
- Tuition is offered in the London boroughs of Camden, Westminster, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea and Hackney. Lessons take place at the child's home or at an external facility that we agree with you in advance.
- A parent or carer must be present throughout every lesson.
- To cancel or rearrange a lesson, please give at least 24 hours' notice. Later cancellations or missed lessons may be charged at [the full lesson fee]. If we have to cancel, we will offer another time or a refund.
- Tuition cannot promise particular exam or assessment results.
- We handle any safeguarding concern in line with our safeguarding policy (see the link in the footer).
Cancellations and refunds
Your right to cancel and how we handle returns and refunds are set out on our Returns and refunds page, which forms part of these terms.
If something goes wrong
Goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Digital content must meet the same standards. If they are not, you have legal rights to a repair, replacement or refund, and services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss of profit or business. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited.
Events outside our control
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as illness, severe weather, postal or internet failures. We will tell you and offer a refund if we cannot deliver.
Complaints
Please email elif@hacketteducationalresources.com and we will reply within [5 working days]. [Add details of an alternative dispute resolution provider, if you use one.]
General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may use your local courts. We may update these terms; the version in force when you order applies to that order.
